Several years ago, I got an awesome deal on a full size grill. We ended up getting rid of it when we last moved though. The grates were so hard to clean and the thing was just too huge to fit on our small apartment. Sadly, you just can’t get the same flavor without cooking over an open flame though. We’ve really been missing barbecuing on those warm summer nights. Thanks to the STOK Gridiron Grill (gas), meals at our home are now filled with grilled goodness again!
Portable STOK Gridiron Grill
I was first introduced to STOK at the Dad 2.0 conference. What impressed Frans and I the most was the STOK Gridiron Grill, like it was designed just for families like ours. Though the Gridiron Grill is really supposed to be for road trips, tailgating, picnics, and camping the portable design is just what we needed. Assembly was fairly easy and I did it myself in about 15-20 minutes.
With just a release lever and a large handle, the Gridiron Grill is easier to open and close than most strollers (many of which will cause you to pull a muscle somewhere). Go from a functional gas grill to upright storage in just minutes. I can even do it in flip-flops 🙂
STOK Gridiron Grill & Interchangeable Insert System
What’s even better is the fact the Gridiron Grill still works with the other STOK interchangeable cooking inserts. Oh, man, these are seriously awesome! Sure, you can use the plain ‘ol grate insert. But, you can also choose to use a pizza stone, a griddle, a vegetable tray, a rotisserie/kebob rack, and more. So far, we’ve only been able to try out the vegetable tray and it was so easy. Oh, did I mention that the grate and inserts are all dishwasher safe?! It just keeps getting better, right?!
The grill requires a small butane tank. However, since we intend to use this on a more permanent/regular basis, we decided to get a big tank and just buy a hose adaptor. Well, it also turned out that we bought the big tank and filled it before realizing that the opening was made for a a small one and couldn’t return it 😛
Dinner turned out fantastic! As mentioned, we were only able to use the STOK Gridiron Grill once so far. Though we had some beautiful weather, as soon as we got the grill, the weather began turning cold and crazy windy. I’ll update you on the other inserts and how the grill has been holds up during that time.

Have you found a good cover for it?
Not yet. We tend to keep ours in a covered area so it’s pretty safe from weather damage.
Hi,
I am planning to buy a portable grill and Stok Gridiron is one of the choices. So, wanted to check if you still feel the same about the grill ? Since it is already 2 years from the time of your review, is there any update to your review ? Do, you still feel the same about the grill now ?
We still like the grill and it works fine. But, we don’t use it that often. We keep it folded up and, when we do use it, we attach it to a larger tank on our balcony.
how do you attach the larger tank to the grill? we also have the same grill and like it a lot!
We got this hose from Amazon: http://amzn.to/2rlkEzD . It works great to have the large tank on our balcony and then just attach the hose when we’re using it (we don’t travel with it much). BTW, don’t overfill the large tank with too much propane. Otherwise, the propane won’t come out.
