Sometimes I wish I could change outfits like my daughter does with her Polly Pocket dolls. Just snap this, snap that, and voila – a whole new look! That’s what’s pretty cool about ULINX. It’s magnetic jewelry that you can just snap together to match whatever you may be wearing. There are no clasps, no wires, no clear fishing line to snap – just magnets.
With ULINX you can choose a pre-made style or design your own (DYO). I designed my own by choosing a basic style then selected different pieces to create my bracelet. The online app is super simple – just drag and drop. There’s a huge variety of solids and patterns in both circles and rectangles. Here’s the virtual product I made online compared to the physical item I received. Pretty right on, wouldn’t you agree?
Pro – very strong magnets
I never once felt like the bracelet would come apart. In fact, you have to keep a distance between pieces as you arrange them so everything doesn’t connect by itself. Easy on and easy off.
Since the pieces are only held by magnets, it’s very easy to change out pieces and adjust the size. The pieces can even be used to make a ring. I ordered two extra pieces (Onyx Square and Sky ECLIPSE) so I could coordinate with different outfits. One piece was faulty with the silver paint chipping off. I need to get that one exchanged but no answer from customer service yet. Here are some different combinations:
Con – very strong magnets
The last time I wore the bracelet, I got stuck to a chair, my notebook, a pen, my earrings… Yes, they are indiscriminating magnets that are attracted to all metal surfaces. I also noticed a little tingling in my arm so I’m not sure if that was due to the magnetic field or it was just my imagination.
I think ULINX is an innovative and fun product but, while the magnets are fantastic, they are also the source of other issues. As jewelry, it is very versatile and a great addition to any collection. I love that you can choose your on pieces and the selection is diverse and classy. They really are pretty, in my opinion. However, caution must be heeded when wearing them around any metal or young children (that may swallow the pieces).
