Guess what? I’m going to Canada! Next month I will be joining Ford to celebrate the launch of the 2016 Explorer Platinum, a decked-out trim for SUV luxury. Instead of the usual product brief and ride and drive, Ford will be hosting the very special Platinum Adventure Tour.
The Platinum Adventure Tour – 2016 Explorer Platinum Media Launch
The event will consist of a 6-part road trip of over 2000 miles from the Vancouver coast, through the Rocky Mountains, and down to New Mexico. The tour will begin August 30th and finish on September 23rd.
Of the two routes in Canada and the four options in the U.S., I chose the leg from Kamloops to Calgary. I’ve heard Vancouver is amazing but I would probably want to visit there with my family one day. So, I opted for the other route. That means I’ll be in Canada from September 1-4, 2015.
The Platinum Adventure Tour – The Calgary Stampede
We’ll be flying into Kamloops, driving through Banff and Glacier National Park, and then finishing up in Calgary before flying home.
The only three-night stay on the Platinum Adventure Tour, this drive begins in Kamloops, British Columbia, crosses the Canadian Rockies and ends in Calgary. You’ll overnight in Revelstoke, near majestic Glacier National Park, home to more than 400 glaciers where 12 percent of the landscape is covered by perpetual ice and snow. There’s cerulean Lake Louise, and lovely Moraine Lake boasts views for which there are no words, though you can try. The best way to top off a day of driving an Explorer Platinum? A gondola ride in Banff, or a scenic drive around Lake Minnewanka – we promise – would be unlike any exploration that’s come before.
I can’t wait! It will be my first time in Canada and I am so looking forward to seeing how the 2016 Ford Explorer will handle the twists and turns of such a route. We also have two days to split our 6-hour drive up, which leaves plenty of time to explore the area and take photos! The only question is, what do I wear?!
Each group will be chronicling the journey using the hashtag #ExploreMore. So make sure you follow along. Feel free to tweet me (@cookiesandclogs) any questions you have about the 2016 Ford Explorer Platinum and join my Periscope broadcasts (@cookiesandclogs) to join in on the fun.
Have you taken this route before? Any suggestions for me?
I have been invited to an all-expense paid media launch for this vehicle. All opinions are my own.
