Whew, I am so glad that I’m not in school anymore! Every year, my daughter is required to complete a state-wide writing assignment for the charter school we use. And every year she moans and groans over the pre-chosen topic and how many paragraphs she has to write. After several drafts and final copy, she turns it in and breathes a sigh of relief. Fortunately, her papers have all come back with high marks.
To make it as painless as possible, we start with a mock topic and practice the specific points that are being focused on in the assignment. Any example essays we can find really come in handy. So far we have had to work on writing a point-by-point compare/contrast, a summary, and persuasive writing.
Since my daughter is still in elementary school, the writing structure and requirements are not that difficult. In fact, there are a ton of resources we can utilize. I’m sure will be much harder as she continues on into middle and then high school. At that time, I’ll probably have to refer to Oppapers.com for ideas and help.
Writing essays will be something she’ll just have to endure for now. Who knows, maybe in time she’ll even enjoy it? (Yeah, right.)

I always enjoyed writing essays as long as I was interested in the subject matter.
My son however, hates it and I really am not looking forward to it as he gets older and the writing gets more involved.
Really? You liked them? Ugh, I was never a fan. Still, I’m glad that I know HOW to write them because the skill to properly organize and convey your thoughts is a valuable one. Hopefully it will get easier for both our kids one day 🙂
