He Will Be Greatly Missed But Never Forgotten

by TerriAnn

Last week, a dear friend of ours passed away. He was funny, kind, witty, caring, generous, thoughtful, and almost always had a smile on his face. His personality was such that everyone he met couldn’t help but love him.

In addition to being a wonderful family friend, he was even one of the earliest fans of Cookies & Clogs. He entered the second giveaway we hosted, featuring a set of highlighters. He actually won in the random drawing and was amusingly pleased with them. As the blog continued to grow he and his wife would often say how proud they were of me, like parents seeing their child succeed.

The decline of his health was not sudden but his death was. He was only in his mid-30s. No matter what the reason, never take for granted the time you have now with your loved ones. For when they die, the hole they leave can only be filled with the happy memories you had of and with them.

Thanks, Liz. He will be missed. All we can do is help support his wife (also our family friend), mom, siblings, and other family.

So sorry for your loss. I don’t think anyone can be prepared for something like this, and it reminds us how important it is to never take our friends for granted.

So true. Even my daughter said the other night, “I can’t believe he’s not alive any more…”

I’m sorry to hear of your loss. I have lost loved one’s too. Unfortunately, we all do at some point. And everyone handles the grief and pain, differently. The love and memories that we have for our friends, family and pets that have passed is all we have once they pass away. It is never the same without our loved ones, once they pass on. But it’s what we all have to endure in this life. Our love for them never stops, even after they are gone for many years. Love is truly the strongest human emotion I believe. I dearly miss all of my loved ones who have passed away, my beloved pets, too! My sincere prayers and thoughts are with you, and his other friends and family.

Thank you for such a moving and insightful comment. At this point we are still in somewhat of denial but our energies are focused on supporting his family who are suffering so much more. The more we love, the more we have to lose but it’s so worth it!

Sorry about your friend TerriAnne. Though he is no longer suffering, it’s his family and friends who are suffering now. But with his wife and mother being surrounded by all of you who knew him and loved him, sharing stories about him, all the good times, funny things…….it will help them deal with their grief. The saying, “Time heals all wounds,” well I believe in time you are able to go on with your life without the one you love, be able to remember all the good times you had with them, then they were happy and healthy. But the truth is, that wound never really heals, you just learn to live and deal with it. Your friend’s family are blessed to have friends like you and your family, who will help them during this sad time. My thoughts go out to them and to you TerriAnne.

Thank you. We’ll be going to his memorial this Saturday and I’m sure we’ll see A LOT of water works. In the meantime, we trying to keep in close contact with his wife and support her the best we can. We are also close to his sister so it helps to keep in mind that others that are missing him as much and even more than we do. You’re right, though, he’s finally not in pain and that’s a relief.
