Speckles loves a good squeak toy, as many dogs do. The only time it gets irritating is at 5am in the morning or when it’s a constant stream of, “Squeak…squeak…squeak…squeak”. You get the picture. Hear Doggy! is a new line of ultrasonic toys that makes noise for your dog at a pitch only they can hear. The concept obviously makes sense and is along the lines of a dog whistle. We received one of each variety: one flat, one large plush, and one small plush. Speckles was pretty patient as I took some photos first…at least for a while that is…
She immediately fell in love with the whale as it was a nice size and one she could easily handle. The fins and tail were perfect for sucking on and she could easily get her mouth around the squeaker. As for the moose, well, that lost an antler immediately. We tried to curb her from eating the other one but I ended up just cutting it off. Speckles will run around the house shaking it back and forth.
Now, how do you know if the squeaker is actually audible to the dog if you can’t hear it yourself? You can hear what sounds like a puff of air escaping but how we know it worked was by watching Speckles. When she has a normal squeak toy, she will put it in her mouth and constantly press on it so she can hear the sound. With the Hear Doggy toys, after she finds the squeaker, she does the exact same thing. Speaking of finding the squeaker, it was much harder with the blowfish since it’s so big and round. That didn’t stop Speckles from having fun looking for it though.
These are great toys and do what they are advertised to do. If you have a chewer, though, you may not want them to play with these unless you are actively watching them. Though the Hear Doggy! products are sewn well, they are still plush toys and are not make to withstand a lot of chomping abuse or tug-of-war. Otherwise, these are toys you won’t mind your dog playing with at all hours of the day and will may even save your sanity.
You can buy Hear Doggy! toys at Amazon for $6-12.

Aww!~ Your speckles is too adorable! These toys are really neat, I love that they are ultrasonic. We’ll have to try them out for Ginger!
Thank you – we quite like her ourselves 😛 I’m sure Ginger would have a great time with them. There’s such a cute variety too!
Awww I can’t believe how grown up Speckles is!! I love the post and need to go check out these toys ASAP! Rascal and Marzi drive me crazy once they get their paws on their squeaky toys. Of course, I get my squeaks in stereo!! Haha! 🙂
Haha, that’s true! I can just imagine the craziness 😛 Speckles is really a sweet thing and we just taught her to ‘dance’ which is pretty hilarious (sits upright on hind legs then moves her front paws around). I know your daughter is doing amazingly but how are your furry kids doing?
They’re doing great! We’re still working with Marzi to get her used to walking over bridges and manhole covers (she hates them, weird no?) and Rascal is as fun and loving as ever. We had them out at the beach last week and they had a blast. They are a handful but I’m so glad we kept two of the puppies. I would love to get them together with Speckles again. That was such fun when we had Speckles, MJ, Marzi and Raz together at the park.
I know – it was so fun to see how they are still family 😛 BTW, I totally understand. Speckles hated any kind of covers on the ground and would adamantly refuse to walk over them, always finding a way around. It was pretty hilarious to see her having fun and being giddy and then make a whole detour around the metal or concrete surface. We had to jump on it ourselves and then force her to do it too. Finally she just walks over them with no problem, many times not even noticing them.
OH my gosh. I think my Pug would probably bark at them since she barks at everything “new” or “different” lol They are cool though!
Maybe just initially. At least you know your Pug is very alert and cautious 😛
Oh how cute are these, hee!
