Marvel’s The Avengers is not just for kids. To prove that, Dane-Elec has released a new line of USB drives featuring your favorite characters from the movie. We received the Dane-Elec Thor USB Drive – fully decked out in his Asgardian garb, wielding his precious Mjölnir, and ready to hold 8GB of data. I found out the hard way that this was not one of those easy-to-open packages…
While the outfit is surprisingly detailed, the features of poor Chris Hemsworth are not. The face and hair kind of look like that of a hippie. All you need to do is strap on a bandana and some John Lennon sunglasses and you’ve got a 70s flower child. If you don’t look to closely at the face, then it actually looks pretty cool.
To extend the USB drive, there is a small button you need to push and slide. I was a bit surprised that the casing was entirely made of plastic as I was at least expecting the USB part to be metal. It’s a bit tough to slide in and out so I’m curious how this will hold up to wear and tear. Good thing that each drive comes with a 5-year warranty! On the plus side, you shouldn’t get stopped at airport security (no metal, get it?).
Due to the drive’s shape, it did not fit well on the USB slots on my computer. It did however fit just right in my laptop. And, I must say, it’ll look pretty sweet when typing up a post at Starbucks. After collecting the Captain America, Hulk, Iron Man, and Thor USB drive you can even connect them to a matching USB Hub. If you’re in need of a bit of portable memory but are tired of boring USB sticks, the Dane-Elec Avengers line is a fun alternative.
