We all have things we wish we could go back in time and change. For me, that has to do with my teeth. Like many young teens, I had braces. I remember the days in middle school of trying to keep them clean, getting cut gums, and accidentally throwing away the retainers I later got (fortunately I remembered not too long after and was able to dig them out). Still, I was so thankful that my mom put me through that so I could have a nice smile with straight teeth.
The one thing that bothered me was the small permanent retainer I had behind my lower front teeth. It was always a pain to clean there and was more susceptible for tartar to build up. So, when I was about 20 or so, I asked my dentist to remove it for me as my teeth ‘should’ have stopped moving by that time. ‘Should’ is the key word. No long after, my bottom teeth began shifting. I had a quick retainer made to prevent more movement but, over the years, I found that to be an inadequate fix. No matter what I did, my teeth continued to shift. Now I’m at a point where I’m considering getting orthodontics again. I’m so self-conscious of my lower teeth (don’t look too hard at my photos…) and it bugs me to no end that it could have been prevented, if only I had kept that permanent retainer on.
So what brought on this sudden confession of something I wish I could do over? This campaign by Frigidaire did:
The Frigidaire Gallery™Dishwasher gets dishes fully cleaned the first time, so there are no dish do-overs. Nearly half of adults admit to re-washing and/or re-drying dishes after the dishwasher cycle has been completed. To prevent dishwasher do-overs, Frigidaire® is stepping in with its new Gallery® Dishwasher featuring the OrbitCleanTM Wash Arm, ensuring dishes are cleaned right the first time.
I like getting things right the first time, don’t you? This helped me realize that, while we can’t go back in time, we can learn from our past mistakes and try to make the best decisions now.
Which moments in your life do you wish you could do over?

Teeth are hard no matter what I think. I wish mine were whiter. I think there is always something we wish we could do with our teeth!
I guess that’s true. A nice smile is so important but I think we get too caught up in the cosmetic factor.
I regret stopping wearing my retainers too!! We don’t think how things will affect us later on when we’re kids.
So true! It was irritating, though since I was already an adult (well, about 19-20) 🙁
