My family is not picky about where we go to vacation, as long as it’s near the water. We love being by the coast and spending time on sandy beaches, either to relax or play. I guess that’s the result of me growing up in the SF Bay Area and my husband coming from a country with water all around (The Netherlands aka Holland).
Recently, I stumbled upon some photos of the Gulf Coast beaches – beautiful! Especially breathtaking were those taken in Mississippi. Now, up to this point, the only thing I knew about this state was how to spell it as we were forced to memorize the M-ISS-ISS-IPP-I during grade school. Sad, I know. Doing a bit of research on the area made me want to vacation in Mississippi and see for myself why so many flock here.
I realize that Hurricane Isaac hit the coast hard last month so I won’t be planning anything immediately. Still, there are some great Mississippi Gulf Coast events currently going on and many more on the way. I can’t believe how many annual festivals they have – most of them right up our alley. Full days along the sandy shore with delicious food and upbeat music? Yes, please!
My condolences to all those that suffered loss or damage in the area and I wish for your speedy recovery. Hopefully it will be bustling in no time and we can see why it’s such an awesome place to visit!

Celebration is good for forgeting bad things. I wish blessed healing to the suffered ones.
Agreed. Focusing on the positive helps heal faster – that’s definitely true!
