As a blogger that concentrates on product reviews, it is very, very, very, VERY easy to get overwhelmed with a backlog of posts to write. Especially around this time of year, my inbox gets blasted with requests from companies to try their items and write honest reviews. This will continue until the new year at which point the work flow is more manageable.
Writing review after review can become monotonous and, well, can suck out any ‘fun’ in writing. Starting now, I’m going to take a deep breath and try to get my creative juices going again.
I have a few topics I’d like to address but I need more. What’s been going on with you? Are there issues you’re concerned with or projects you’ve been working on? Anything interesting happen with you or your kids? Traveled somewhere fun, created something new, or cooking up a storm? I’m all ears 🙂

That’s why I’m not doing a holiday gift guide. It sucks the fun out of blogging and by Christmas, I’m miserable!
Glad to know others are being selective with their reviews as well.
I worked all week last week at my kids school, and will do it again 3 days this week. I’m behind, but my family comes first!
I totally agree that family comes before blogging!
I’ve been too busy to write – all last week I tried to get online and just couldn’t. I think I’m going to have to get up earlier to get writing done. Good luck with the product reviews. I know I’ve come to count on them and to get good tips regarding things to buy and where to go for fun from your site. 🙂
Well, I’m anxious for your next entry 🙂 Thanks for the feedback on the reviews – very often I doubt who reads reads and if they’re of any use to others. I’ll keep it up just for you 😛
I just started blogging in the summer, so I don’t get a lot of requests…I am however, taking heed of messages like this, in case the blog does take off in the right direction so I can do my best not to become overwhelmed.
One other piece then, don’t undervalue yourself by taking on too many low value items or for $ off coupons. You’ll regret being taken advantage of later!
I’ve been using a guest blogging site because I’m at my son’s school 3 – 5 days a week, and with his extracurricular activities, taking care of my home, and reviews and giveaways on my blog, I just don’t have the time to do actual writing for the sake of writing. Maybe come January I’ll get back into really writing. 🙂
I totally feel you! I hope you’ll be able to focus on the enjoyment of writing in the coming year.
I’m actually enjoying the requests I’m getting, much improved from last year. Are you decorating for the fall?
I’m not. With all we’ve been dealing with with possibly moving and work changing, decorating is the furthest from my mind. I may have to take on a couple projects to keep my sanity though 😛
I’ve been focusing on doing more holiday crafts. Its fun and it gives me something to blog about.
Glad you found something to write enthusiastically about. I love all your photos!
