For about 2 years so far, we have had a subscription to National Geographic Kids. When we get a new issue in the mail, my daughter runs to the living room and immediately starts reading it. She may speed through it in a couple of days but she keeps them so she can periodically refer back to certain articles. It’s amazing how she can remember almost all the information and in which issue it was in. To keep your kids entertained for the rest of the summer, National Geographic Kids has put together a Boredom Buster kit.
As you can see in the above image the set includes National Geographic Kids Almanac 2011, The Big Book of Fun, and Weird But True! These really are fantastic books. They are well-made, have beautiful pictures, and are extremely educational. I know they will be great supplement as we head into the coming school year.
Usually my daughter goes through quickly to look at the pictures and then goes back to read it. Not this time. She can sit for hours just reading the different bits of information. She’ll even giggle sometimes and will often refer to them when we are talking. The other day, our African Dwarf Frogs shed their skin then ate it. She turned to a page in one of her books that said frogs eat their skin for vitamins. I’m glad she learned something but it’s still gross. National Geographics Kids has helped my daughter to love science. These books are fun, colorful, and engaging. Not only will these blow away those boredom blues but they will learn at the same time. These are such great resources! I think I will have to borrow them while she’s asleep so I can enjoy them as well.

I don’t have facebook, so I will answer the slide question – I think you are meaning the pictures? I really like the picture of all three books, simply because my daughter just adores these books, we spend a great deal of her Learning Investment (homeschooler where we are get some $$ each year to homeschool 🙂 on these kinds of books. She would be just thrilled if we won this package.
