RIO fans rejoice! The new sequel from 20th Century Fox, RIO 2, will be in theaters on April 11th. What’s it all about? Well, check out the official movie summary and RIO 2 trailer below:
RIO 2 Movie Summary
Blu and Jewel are back for an all new adventure in Rio 2!
The entire cast of the animated smash RIO returns in RIO 2, and they are joined by a new flock of top actors and musical talents. Rich with grandeur, character, color and music, RIO 2 finds Jewel (Anne Hathaway), Blu (Jesse Eisenberg) and their three kids leaving their domesticated life in that magical city for a journey to the Amazon. They encounter a menagerie of characters who are born to be wild, voiced by Oscar nominee Andy Garcia, Oscar/Emmy/Tony-winner Rita Moreno, Grammy winner Bruno Mars, and Tony winner Kristin Chenoweth.
Starring the voices of Anne Hathaway, Jesse Eisenberg, Will i am, Jemaine Clement, Tracy Morgan, Leslie Mann, George Lopez, Rodrigo Santoro, Andy Garcia, Rita Moreno, Natalie Morales, Kristin Chenoweth, and Jamie Foxx.

We didn’t really think we would like the first one, but we LOVED it, so I cannot wait for this one. It’s going to be so fun I think.
My son just watched the first Rio while in the child care area at the gym today. I’ll have to make a point to see it myself soon, before the sequel is released!

I’ve never seen the first one (shh! don’t tell) My son will be interested in watching this. Even at 16 he loves to watch all the Disney movies.
My 4 year old just wrapped up a rainforest unit at preschool and they watched the first one — he would love watching the sequel.
We haven’t seen the first one, but both movies look perfect for my son! We will have to catch up and then go see this one.
