I’m not the type of person that ‘gets’ the whole personification of cars referring to them as ‘she’, ‘her’, or giving them endearing names. However, I’m convinced that the 2014 Lexus IS F has its own personality.
One-week vehicle loan was provided for review purposes. All opinions are my own.
This thing is a beast! It’s not happy unless you’re going 80 mph, at which point it seems totally and completely content. Any Lexus driver will understand what I mean. The IS F is will make anyone a car lover who can’t wait to jump in the driver seat even if it’s to buy toilet paper from the local grocery store with an expiring coupon. Yeah, it’s weird.
2014 Lexus IS F Transforms the Driving Experience
During the week I was driving the 2014 Lexus IS F, my schedule was full of non-stop business meetings from San Francisco to Palo Alto and back to San Francisco another two times. Driving along the peninsula had never been as enjoyable as it was with the 5.0L V8 engine (translates to monster power) softly purring through the quad mufflers. Gas consumption is not bad with an average of about 18-20 but filling up with only premium gas adds up.
Plus, the IS F is extremely responsive. You step on the gas, it goes. There’s no lag whatsoever. Forbid you actually try to accelerate to pass someone. “Eat my dust” becomes oh so literal as the car behind quickly disappears in the rear view mirror. Yeah, Frans had a bit of fun with that. It’s not just about the speed. It’s more about the RPMs and how effortless the engine transitions from one gear to another. Do you see the effect this car has on this sensible mama that’s usually more concerned with trunk space (which it has a good amount of) and leg room?!
The IS F is smooth, quiet, gorgeous, and it hugs the curves like no one’s business. The iconic “F” (see what that’s all about here) was a tad over-pronounced but I guess that’s part of it’s swag appeal. That and the sporty red and black interior with racing-inspired pedals.
With all that power, it was hard to idle while inputting an address into the navigation system. So, while I attacked those on- and off-ramps, the Driver Assist was wonderful.Every operator I spoke to was so friendly and they found my destination addresses easily. Within a matter of minutes they uploaded the directions directly to my system, I tapped the ‘Go!’ icon on the screen, and I was good to go. Safe and efficient – just the way I like it.
The Lexus IS F is HOT!
This is NOT meant for a sweet little family of four, though, as an every day road trip car. If the person in front has any height on them, the rear seat leg room becomes non-existent. Plus, driving this car requires the seat to be set a little bit lower, making it next to impossible for a person sitting behind you to put their feet underneath. In the back, the middle seat is replaced with a hard plastic surface so no room for the kid’s playmates. That’s not necessarily a bad thing…
The 2014 Lexus IS F is a dangerous car. It makes you want to drive, and to drive fast. One friend told me that she only saw it once and has since been dreaming about it. It’s that good. If I had an extra $60K to drop and no kids, this fine sports sedan would be on my want list too. This is the perfect car for cruising the coast with your honey or your girls.

The 2014 Lexus IS F looks like a really great car! I would love to own one.
Wow that looks like a beautiful car!
Ooh, definitely on my want list!
It looks amazing, my husband would love it so would I (I’m the ‘lead-foot mama’) ! My kids name all our cars 🙂
I can’t say I’m crazy about the interior colors on this. I do know though that my husband would have a great time driving this on the tollway here in DFW, that is unless he was gridlocked in traffic, LOL!
Now that is one hot ride. The seats just scream race me down a scenic road!
