For some, the bigger the car the better. Those shoppers would love the 2014 Lexus LX570. This massive vehicle sits high like a truck, seats eight, and has a crazy amount of driving and pulling power. All of this is encapsulated in a luxurious family SUV that will impress anyone that rides in it.
One-week vehicle loan was provided for review purposes. All opinions are my own.
2014 Lexus LX 570 Inner Bling
Lexus is known for its quality cars and it’s luxury touches both inside and out. The LX570 is no exception. With a commanding exterior and envy-envoking features lining the interior, the driver and any passengers are guaranteed to ride in style.
The park assist on this provided a completely different parking experience. With a wide-view front camera and one under the side mirror, you have a clear shot of exactly how far you were from object in front or to the side of you. Anyone wanting to park the perfect distance from the curb every time and NEVER scrape the parking space island will rejoice with these!
The entertainment system on the LX570 was easy to control from the front or back seats and the video/audio was clear. The wireless headphones were picking up a lot of static so we opted to listen to the audio of “Charlie & Lola” as we drove.
As if the roomy ride wasn’t nice enough, a built-in cooler is hidden in the middle console for fully chilled beverages and snacks on the road. It’s big enough for a good six pack of cans.
This was the first vehicle in which I experienced a four-zone climate control. Not only do the driver and passenger have their own controls to adjust the temperature to their liking, but the second row can also take advantage of dual settings so passengers on each side are happy.
Unlike the claustrophobic feeling I experienced in the 4Runner‘s back row, the Lexus LX570 was much more bearable. There was plenty of headroom and hip space. Leg room was “eh” but the cushions were comfortable. Again, this is not meant as a permanent third row but would suffice for short trips (i.e. less than an hour or two).
Getting in and out was very easy as the seat simply fold all the way up for a spacious walkway. One friend did point out how dirty this light carpeted area would get with kids jumping in and out all the time. Spoken like a true mom. If you plan on using this third row, get some kind of rubber mats or dark carpet.
2014 Lexus LX 570 Price Vs Features
With access to all the latest technology and a $89,000 price tag, I was expecting this vehicle to do everything but fly. It didn’t do either actually. There was no seat position memory on the passenger side, no adaptive cruise control, no lane departure warning, and *I think* blind spot monitoring was also absent. Why? If you’re going to offer a top of a line sound system and swivel HID headlights, why would you not add an extra set of seat memory buttons?
The LX570 falls a bit short on the ride. With super loose suspension (even in sport mode), one can get a bit woozy on long rides. Frans used the LX570 to commute to work two days and he felt almost “sea sick” with the bouncing motion on the highway. I could also feel the SUV being a bit top-heavy on turns. Turning radius was not too good and handling was just okay.
If anyone feels that getting in and out of the towering SUV is a bit challenging, though, you can set the body to automatically lower when the engine is turned off. That is definitely a nice feature for those that don’t have model-length legs.
Doors also open wide for easy access. The back opens in two parts. This is very handy for accessing things in the cargo area without having everything else back there fall out. When you do open the bottom section, it’s sturdy like a truck gate, perfect for tailgate parties.
The buttons in the rear were a bit confusing at first. Then I realized what they do. The seats don’t only fold down but they fold up and lock in a vertical position on the sides. Huh? Yeah, I thought you might need a visual:
2014 Lexus LX 570 – A Worthy Family Investment?
The 2014 Lexus LX 570 has a lot of potential as an all-around family vehicle but falls short as an over-priced ego booster. The engine is powerful enough to tow a boat, a few motor bikes, etc. and really delivers, but the huge 5.8L V8 will only get you an average of 14 MPG (miles per gallon). Having impressive features only works when you have them all, or at least every option available on economy or mid-priced cars. For almost $90,000, I should have been dreaming about this car at every moment. Instead, Frans and I fought over who HAD to drive that day.

You had me until I saw the price tag! That costs more than what I have left on my mortgage. It is an awesome ride, though.
That is a sweet ride. I can’t afford one, but I would love to at least test drive one sometime.
I just read Lynda’s comment and I was going to say the same thing – I could pay off my mortgage with the cost of that! The beverage cooler and parking cam are nice features though 🙂
Those are such great features for the price! Hubs just got the Audi and it was around the same price but I think I want this Lexus for myself 😉
That’s one sweet ride. It would be perfect for my family.
This Lexus LX 570 looks great! Very swanky.
I love the built in cooler. What a great idea.
Oh my heavens. That is like my dream car! Too bad it’s WAAYY out of our price range. Plus we just bought a new vehicle not too long ago. I’ll just keep dreaming. 🙂
Those are some cool seats, I love that they fold so many ways! Yet, my family of 5 that always has another friend or two with us, might need something with a more functional 3rd row.
That is a nice car!! It looks so much cleaner than my car with kids lol
wow, thats a LARGE price-tag! we are in the market for a large suv that will suit our family of 5 plus a dog for long trips, etc. i do like that this vehicle lowers, i am only 5 ft 1″!
This looks like a nice ride! I would love to give it a test drive myself!
Very nice! Looks like they have great features and very roomy!
Wow, this is one beauty of a car!! I guess for 89,000 it should be!! I am not loving the cream colored carpeting though because that would surely get stained fast!
I have always been a fan of the Lexus line of cars! This one is especially nice, the inside looks so modern and high tech!
This is actually on our list for what we want next… it is such a beautiful car with so much room
I love the look of this SUV. It’s super roomy too, and has all the features I love!
I love the look of this SUV, but I still have a hang up with having to fold a seat forward for kids to get into the back seat AND the lack of cargo space in the back. As a family of 7, we really need that space…and so far, minivans are the only vehicles that deliver, much to my sorrow!
With that kind of MPG, I don’t think I could afford to test drive that! It’s a gorgeous vehicle, though. I am a big fan and large SUVs.
Wow! That is a beautiful vehicle! I will just dream about it for now! 🙂
Wow, we have an 8 seater and this car fixes all the little changes I would make about ours! Love those temperature options!
This would be on my dream car list! Love the room inside!
This is clearly not a car in my budget parameters, but that being said, it does have some features I appreciate. The dual climate zone is such a nice feature in a 4-way like that.
I am car shopping right now but that one is out of my budget. I appreciate your honest review. It is refreshing to hear the good and the not so good,
Ever since I owned a Lexus I have wanted another. This looks like something I would like to drive!
I sure wish this was in my price range, because I’d be all over it!
OMG, what a beautiful car. I could totally see me driving this.
We test drove this earlier this year and my neighbors were all over this vehicle, I think I let them all test drive it lol.
