On Monday I’ll be headed for the airport again, this time headed to Los Angeles. It’s almost time for Kelley Blue Book to announce their picks for their second annual car awards, the 2016 Kelley Blue Book Best Buy Awards, and I get to check out some of the nominees. 49 new cars, from various manufacturers, have been tested within the 12 major segments. These will be driven back to back and directly compared on several factors. It will be interesting to find out which cars come out on top.
2016 Kelley Blue Book Best Buy Awards
The 2016 Kelley Blue Book Best Buy Awards are intended as an aid to consumers. There are so many cars out there to choose from and it can be tough to know which is the best fit for each family. However, if the car you’re interested in wins a Best Buy Award, then you’ll know you made a solid choice!
Kelley Blue Book Best Buy Awards honor the top new model-year vehicles available in the U.S. market, (regardless of whether it’s all-new or not), in 12 major categories, along with an overall winner (chosen from the winning list of 12 segment winners). Designed as a service to the American new-car buyer, these awards recognize the best of all available 2016 model-year vehicles. The awards are the culmination of a year-long regimen of expert vehicle evaluation and testing of nearly every new vehicle available in America, along with analysis of a broad swath of vehicle-related data, including pricing/transaction prices, 5-Year Cost-to-Own information (which includes depreciation, insurance, maintenance, financing, fuel, fees and taxes for new cars), consumer reviews and ratings, and vehicle sales information. Backed by nearly 90 years of expertise, the Kelley Blue Book Best Buy Awards help shoppers’ in-market for a new car make the best possible purchase decision.

There are 3-6 nominees for each segment and, honestly, they all seem to be strong contenders. I know I have most of my favorites picked out already but the real question is if they’ll stack up to what the experts say. I’m most interested to see who will win the awards in the SUV and Electric Vehicle segments. To see the full list of Best Buy Nominees here.
