For the past few weeks, we decided to try out the Venta Airwasher in place of the air purifier we’ve been using. The difference is that we won’t need to change any costly filters and that the Airwasher is also a humidifier. Both were major factors in my wanting to test out this machine in the first place.
During our Venta Airwasher review, I definitely noticed a difference in the air quality in the house. It’s great that we don’t get that “stale” kind of air anymore, which is definitely a plus. The constantly blowing fan of cold evaporated water keeps the air circulating and it always seems fresh. Also, when we’re gone for a large chunk of the day, our place doesn’t smell like “dog” if only Speckles is left at home to odorize it.
Venta Airwasher Review & Maintenance
I’m also happy to report that, despite being around people with colds, none in our family have gotten sick yet! I hope this keeps up for the whole winter! It has been an adjustment to refill the water everyday and to rinse out the basin every 10-14 days. It’s not a big deal but I just have to get into the habit of that upkeep. I do love the fact that everything (except for the motor and detachable fan) is dishwasher safe. How can you use the Airwasher to clean the air if there’s residual build-up?!
With California being in such a severe drought, it does pain me every time I have to dump out the water and refill it. I have to remind myself, though, that the Airwasher doubles as a humidifier. Usually, my family gets really dry skin in the winter, especially on our hands. Fortunately, we haven’t had that issue yet and I think it’s due to the Airwasher. Our home sensors tell us that the humidity level in our home is at about 40% so that’s pretty good.
The Airwasher is simple to use and really only has one moving part. That mean a lot less maintenance. The machine is also pretty quiet. During the day I’ll generally keep the fan on the medium “2” setting, but at night we’ll put it on the lowest “1” setting. I only us the high “3” setting if our house is for some strange reason very rank (i.e. heavy garlic, someone was smoking outside, or a dog that’s due for a bath).
Venta Airwasher Aromatherapy Essential Oils
In case of an extra boost, specially formulated essential oils can be added. 1-2 capfuls should be enough to last for a few hours but the scent seems to linger for most of the day in our place. Venta aromatherapy comes in 1.7 fl. oz. (50 ml) bottles and are available in six different fragrances.
- Winter Dream
- Relaxing
- Citrus Garden
- Refreshing
- Eucalyptus
- Vanilla
I enjoy Citrus Garden and Refreshing most since I’m a fruity-fragrance-loving gal. I’m not a fan of Winter Dream (too cinnamon-y) or Vanilla (too sweet) and I haven’t tried Eucalyptus yet since I’m usually allergic to that scent. This is totally personal preference though. I highly recommend getting both of the variety packs from Venta so you know which smells are your favorites.
Venta Airwasher Review — Filters VS Water
In case you need an air purifier and/or humidifier, you might want to try the Venta Airwasher. Relying on water to clean the air and keep it moist just makes sense. Also, there’s no waste of replacing filters twice a year and the air actually smells fresh. In a home with kids and pets that’s extremely welcome.
