Now we know why she just kept swimming! My family and I had such a blast seeing Finding Dory at the Dolby Cinema at AMC in Newark, CA yesterday! After meeting up with my two giveaway winners and taking some photos, we all took our seats in the theater. My Finding Dory review mode turned on as the lights dimmed.
Watching Finding Dory at Dolby Cinema at AMC
Oh, how I love the cushy leather seats that are power reclining. They are so roomy and comfortable. The best part is how it’s all laid out. You to recline all the way back without having to worry about someone kicking your seat from behind. It could be tempting to doze off so it’s a good thing the seat keeps you awake when pulsing in response to the film. (FYI, I only noticed the pulsing a few times and it wasn’t distracting at all. In fact, it made scenes more interesting.) This is definitely the posh way to watch a movie.
Finding Dory Review for Families
Okay, back to Finding Dory. I already had the chance to watch the first 33 minutes and couldn’t wait to see how it all ended. I have a bad memory and by that I mean REEAALLLLYYYY bad. So, I was curious to see how filmmakers would handle Dory’s condition and if it would turn out well for her. I couldn’t help but want to root for her.
The story is simple but, at the same time, one that needed addressing after the events of Finding Nemo. What was Dory doing before she met Marlin? Where did she come from? How did her short-term memory condition affect her emotionally? In Finding Dory, we learn the answers to those questions and they are all tied together with a nice little bow.
Plus, we get to meet a whole new crew of friends while catching up with old ones. Hank the septopus, Destiny the whale shark, and Bailey the beluga whale all have their own issues, though. These make for a colorful story as we watch them overcome obstacles together. The value of compassion, as well as finding personal strengths, is highlighted in a powerful way.
In putting together this Finding Dory review, I found that I really liked this movie. It’s a fantastic sequel to Finding Nemo and it’s so nice to know how life turns out for the lovable but forgetful blue and yellow tang. The storyline and overall feeling is different from the original movie. Yet, it’s enjoyable in its own right and offers a solid film with plenty of smile-, laugh-, and tear-inducing moments. Finding Dory is a light-hearted, feel-good movie that is appropriate for all ages.
Don’t forget that the Piper animated short, which shows before the main feature, is super adorable and not to be missed. You’ll also want to stay until after the credits for an extra treat. 🙂
The movie is playing at select Dolby Cinema at AMC theaters for one week only. So, if I was you, I’d hustle and get tickets to see it at one of these amazing theaters ASAP. After that, you’ll have to check it out at another theater near you.

I like the movie a lot. But, I think is more for older kids and adults. Not enough music and action for little kids. My grandson was asking to leave every 5 minutes.
Thank you for sharing your experience. There was quite a bit of talking and no real “action” scenes so I can imagine how that could feel a bit slow to little ones. Glad you enjoyed it though 🙂
