Who loves to shop? I don’t. Well, at least not in real life I don’t. In video games, though, I’d like to consider myself a “fashion queen.” Since I love video game fashion so much, we downloaded a game for the Nintendo 3DS called Style Savvy Fashion Forward. This is the second Style Savvy game for the 3DS. While I haven’t played the first one, I think this new one is soooo much fun!
Nintendo 3DS Style Savvy Fashion Forward Review — Story
Style Savvy Fashion Forward is all about fashion and running your own boutique. Your main job is being a stylist. Characters will ask you for certain style and you need to piece together an outfit that they’ll like. There are six types of fashion: boho-chic, girly, gothic, baby doll, basic, chic, feminine, sporty, rock, and psychedelic (basically just retro clothes).
Your grandma (in the game) helped the town rise to its golden age in fashion in her day. With interest in fashion waning in the present, the main storyline revolves around you making the town fashionable again. Additional side stories that are unlocked after the main storyline ends.
Playing more will later allow you to cut characters’ hair, do their makeup, host fashion shows, design outfits, model, and do some interior design. All these activities give you money, which you can use to buy even more clothes to wear and fill your shop with!
Nintendo 3DS Style Savvy Fashion Forward Review — Gameplay
There are so many outfits and you can buy it all! MWAHAHA!!!!! The only problem is that, while your closet can fit all the clothes you buy (*phew*), your boutique can only keep 1000 types of clothing in stock. That may sound like a lot. I didn’t think I’d ever hit the limit but I did. That’s probably because each item is counted separately, even if it’s the same thing but in a different color (one shirt in five colors counts as five separate items). To get rid of stuff in your boutique, you can sell it for a lesser price. The clothes will still be available in your personal closet for later use, though.
Another interesting aspect in Style Savvy Fashion Forward is that you have to find and take pictures of colors in certain scenes. You can then use those colors in your designs, hairstyles, and makeup. But, that’s only if you find the character named Rainbow. No matter how hard I tried, I just couldn’t seem to find her. She was nowhere to be seen! If you run into this problem, talk to characters in the park and it will eventually bring Rainbow back to her usual spot.
Whether someone openly (or secretly) loves fashion, Style Savvy Fashion Forward would be a good game for them! This fashion video game has so many things to do in it. You’ll have a lot of fun discovering it all! Even I, the one who’s played so much that my mom was all, “Giiiiiiirl, you have to write a post now,” haven’t found everything yet! 😛
I received this item as part of my participation as a Nintendo Ambassador. All opinions are my own.
