Growing up in the 90’s, I’m pretty pleased to see much of the pop culture from that time. The fashion, not so much. Those vests and overalls needed to stay in the past… 😛 Anyway, with many of the shows from my childhood making a comeback, I love being able to share them with my daughter now. I just noticed that one of my favorite series from back in the day has been added to Netflix — Animaniacs.
Animaniacs Now Streaming on Netflix
Every day after I got home from middle school, I would anxiously tune in to see what antics the crazy Yakko, Wakko, and Dot. The funniest thing is that some popular figures from that time were featured. From Mel Gibson and Michelle Pfeiffer’s Catwoman to Bill Clinton and Whoopi Goldberg (I think), dozens of people made their animated cameos.
I also learned a lot, well, kind of. To this day I remember broken lyrics about countries around the world, U.S. states, and even ice cream ingredients. Speaking of which, the songs were hilarious. At one time, I even had the cassette tape (complete with a foldout of the lyrics) containing some of the more catchy ones. Once upon a time I found some videos online and Munchkin loved the parody of the Macarena with lyrics changed to, “Oh, Macadamia!”
Animaniacs — Yakko, Wakko, Dot, Pinky, Brain, and More
Plus, who could forget Pinky and the Brain? The evil schemes of the two lab mice intent on taking over the world were insanely awesome. There were Mindy and Buttons, the New York pigeons, Rita and Runt, the hippos, and so much more. I can’t wait to watch the episodes with my daughter. Now she can see the craziness of the Animaniacs cartoons for herself in all its 90s glory!
Did you ever watch Animaniacs?
I received a year subscription of Netflix and a device to stream the content as part of the Netflix Stream Team. All opinions are my own.
