This week Best Buy invited me to take a peek at a number of enhancements they’ve made to their Santana Row store in San Jose. The company says it has spent $10 million this last summer to remodel all of its 21 stores in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Best Buy has been my go-to place to buy electronics. I love to get the extra bonus points on my credit card when ordering online and then picking it up at a nearby store. This time, though, I was asked to take a closer look and not just go straight to the pick-up counter. I was made aware beforehand, but did immediately notice the new fixtures and fresh clean carpeting.
Those things may sound silly because you won’t take any of those things home with you, but we’ve all experienced the opposite, right? I just don’t feel very comfortable when I have to pick up merchandise that’s been dropped on a dirty floor. Even if it’s not on the floor, could it have been there? My fellow germ-phobia people will completely understand. Those things do really affect your shopping experience and I appreciate that Best Buy is taking this very serious.
Best Buy Santana Row in San Jose, CA—First Floor
The Santana Row store has two stories. On the ground floor you’ll find things such as computers, cell phones, music, games, and so forth. My favorite area is the Camera Experience Shop. This is where we bought our mirrorless camera, lenses, and accessories. Their selection is amazing and everything seems to be in stock. That, plus their awesome price matching, makes it the place to get your next top point-and-shoot camera, digital SLR, camcorder, and more.
Best Buy Santana Row in San Jose, CA—Upper Floor
Going upstairs brings you to a family’s paradise of electronics and appliances. I’m still stunned by the picture quality of the 4K and UHD displays. Best Buy has set up special areas for Samsung and Sony, which probably are the top brands right now.
Across from the ultra high definition displays you’ll find their Pacific Kitchen & Home section. The appliance section is easy to recognize by the large counter where one of their reps can help you put together your next custom kitchen.
Though you may still need some advanced cooking lessons, those large Viking stoves will make you feel like a top chef no matter what. Too bad our apartment is just a tiny bit too small. Even then, there are still plenty of exciting appliances to be found from brands such as Wolf, Miele, and Bosch.
