I read good reviews about a restaurant named Bite, particularly praising their ahi ahi sliders. As we pased the state border into Nevada and drove up to the building we were a bit taken back. The outside looked homely and was two doors down from a sports bar. My husband thought it would be rundown and dirty while I expected some greasy hamburger joint. Boy, were we wrong! The inside revealed a hip, hot spot!
We decided not to go with the ahi ahi sliders as the ingredients weren’t really to our tastes. Most of the items on the menu were quite unique and offered unconventional flavor pairings. But, since we were still full from the meal earlier in the day, we decided to share a plate of bbq chicken sliders and an order of regular beef patty sliders. Each pair of sliders cost $10 so that was a bit steep as you can get a mighty fine REGULAR-sized burger for $5 each. But, they were good! In fact, those sliders hit just the right spot and we decided to splurge for dessert.
Coconut Crème Bites with Meyer Lemon Puree and Warm Apple Turnover Bites with Crème Anglaise – mmm! Just typing that makes my mouth water all over again. The desserts came in four 1 inch by 1 inch squares and cost $8 per plate. While they were terribly good, I don’t think we would have ever spent that much on these mini-treats if not in ‘vacation’ mode.
Bite is somewhere to have a special meal with your loved one or good friends. It is not a place for families based on the decor and the menu. The food was undeniably good though so my daughter finally stopped complaining that she didn’t like the place after she started eating. Be prepared to walk out with a bit of guilt after paying your hefty bill though.
