Before I say anything else in this Captain America: The Winter Solder review, I have to make one thing very, very clear – it is IMPOSSIBLE to keep watching the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. or the upcoming Avengers 2: Age of Ultron movie if you do not see Captain America: The Winter Soldier. This movie is key to the whole Marvel universe franchise and essential to anything dealing with S.H.I.E.L.D. from this point on!

Did I emphasize the importance of seeing Captain America: The Winter Soldier enough?!

My mom and I had a blast seeing Cap 2. This is the most dramatic, suspenseful, emotional, dramatic , and funniest non-stop action film I’ve ever seen. How is it even possible to put all that into a movie and still make it work together so well?! My mom is a total action fan and she was just beaming with excitement. I’m so glad my buddy, Marshall, gave us the heads-up to stay for BOTH extras after the movie because most other attendees at the showing left. Such good teasers . . .

Captain America: The Winter Soldier Review

It’s hard to write a review for this film without giving away spoilers – the whole movie is a spoiler!! It’s been driving my husband and daughter nuts because I can’t really tell them anything without giving away most of the plot. Plus, this week’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. even dropped a doozy. I can tell you this, though – you MUST see this film and stay for BOTH extras (thanks for the heads-up, Marshall).

The story is solid, the acting and effects are top-notch, humor keeps situations from being too heavy, and the action just keeps going and going with numerous rough ’em up sequences and extravagant explosions. It wasn’t gory but there are definitely distinct combat styles shown (ie Captain America’s vs Black Widow’s). Character development is tackles just right and the gadgets featured will make even the most straight-laced person geek out.  There was a ton of stuff going on so a second viewing is mandatory. Captain America: The Winter Soldier is not just a sequel – it’s EPIC! You cannot NOT see this!

After the cataclysmic events in New York with The Avengers, Marvel’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” finds Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, living quietly in Washington, D.C. and trying to adjust to the modern world. But when a S.H.I.E.L.D. colleague comes under attack, Steve becomes embroiled in a web of intrigue that threatens to put the world at risk. Joining forces with the Black Widow, Captain America struggles to expose the ever-widening conspiracy while fighting off professional assassins sent to silence him at every turn. When the full scope of the villainous plot is revealed, Captain America and the Black Widow enlist the help of a new ally, the Falcon. However, they soon find themselves up against an unexpected and formidable enemy—the Winter Soldier.

To hold you over until it hits theaters tomorrow (yay!) or to keep the excitement high after seeing it, here are two printable activity sheet packs for you and the kids to enjoy:

We are so excited to see this action movie! I have an idea on where this whole ‘Avengers’ ‘Shield’ franchise may be headed, but I guess I’ll have to see the movie to see if I’m right.
