For over 15 years I have eaten Philly Cheese Steaks from the Cheese Steak Shop (used to go to the Oakland, CA location). Now franchised stores are popping up all around the Bay Area much to my delight.
The cheese steak sandwiches from here are the best. I’ve tried elsewhere but those have all been dry and tasteless. At the Cheese Steak Shop, they use very finely sliced meat, fresh Provolone cheese, sweet peppers, etc. The bread is the perfect consistency and compliments the other ingredients well. I usually order the mushroom one but I am slowly leaning toward the spinach & mushroom sandwich.
Do you see all that cheese and yummy juices? Even though the sandwiches do not taste greasy at all, I do have this mental image of my arteries clogging up as the food goes down. There are chicken and vegetarian menu items but I just can’t imagine those tasting half as heavenly as the philly subs. If you really feel guilty, the curly fries would probably not be a good idea. For me, a trip to a Cheese Steak Shop is a nice treat 1-3 times a year.

We have one of these in San Jose (or is it Milpitas?). Anyway, you make this food look soooo good that now I am going to have to try to for myself!
