In preparation for our NYC Tribeca/Marvel’s The Avengers Event, I received my own Avengers Cookie Cutter Set and Spatula last week. My daughter and I soon cleared a space to work in the kitchen and got to work on our Avengers cookies.
Though Spider-Man was on the team at one point in the comics, he is not in the upcoming theatrical release. So, I made a slight adjustment to my photo…
I used the recipe that was included since the one I normally use is not meant to be rolled and cut. The batter worked perfectly and created some detailed imprints. The cutters were easy to use with a little dip and shake in flour. I had to knock it on the side of the sink to get the flour out of the tiny grooves though. We had to make sure not to roll the dough too thin and to carefully move the cut pieces to the baking pan. Otherwise they came apart fairly easy, especially the Captain America shape. After we got the hang of it it was much easier and the Iron Man spatula was perfect for this.
My daughter had a great time preparing the cookies for baking. They all came out perfectly golden brown!
Decorating was another story. Making the frosting was super simple with just powdered sugar, milk (lactose-free for my daughter’s sake), and food coloring. My daughter ‘painted’ the frosting on the larger areas and I went through to do the eyes and such. After we finished the meticulous work on our first batch, I got horribly impatient and just slathered the rest of the frosting on the second batch.
All-in-all we were pretty happy with our first attempt but I found out that decorating cookies is not my forte. They didn’t turn out very good and one Iron Man looked like he got injured. In the future, I’ll leave the pretty stuff to the talented ones (you know who you are).
The taste? Well, I should have used a different recipe for the cookies because these didn’t taste very good and were hard to bite into. The cutters were fantastic though and the spatula was just plain fun to use. We had a fabulous making these and are seriously getting into the mood to see the Marvel’s The Avengers. Have you bought your tickets to the opening on May 4th yet?

fun cookies!
We had a blast making them 🙂
Cool!
Yea, it was a fun project to do together. I was really happy with how easy the cookies cutters were to use!
Well, at least you had fun with the kids lol! I think they turned out great!
Thanks – I suppose they weren’t as bad as they could have been 🙂 Your rainbow cake turned out much better – I thought of it when I was mixing the frosting colors!
They look great! What as assembly line:)
Hehe, well, it was just I rolled and she cut 🙂 Thanks for the kind compliment though!
These are totally super cool! I just watched a new clip from the movie this morning. I can hardly wait to go to see this.
Oh, it’s going to be great! Will you be going to one of the movie marathons or having one yourself before it comes out?
I think they turned out awesome!!
You’re so sweet 🙂 It was out first try at such decorating so it wasn’t too bad. Some of the girls did an AWESOME job though! Only one more week before we meet!
Oh those are fun!!
Cool idea, right?!
Good job,
I got mines this weekend and I agree the receipe is not good tasting at all. I colored my dought the color of the cutters and thought it was because I colored them. Other than than I can’t wait to use them for my sons party.
Ooh – I hope they turn out great for the party! Yeah, it’s better to use another recipe – this one is dry and tasteless. At least the cutters are easy to use and make some great details on the cookies! You’ll have to send me pics of your final batch 🙂
Can u tell me where u got the cookie cutter set at??
They were sent to me as part of the movie promotion. I believe they came from Williams-Sonoma though.
