Most people realize that it’s vital to have some sort of credit monitoring. We send so much information through the internet every day, some of it personal and sensitive, and we don’t want it falling into the wrong hands. But that is not enough! Once someone gets ahold of that info, your identity could be up for sale on the black market with you only finding out when it’s already too late. Black market, you say? Read on to see how real this is.
A Potential Threat Has Been Identified – Black Market Website Notification
The other day, I got an email alert from LifeLock about a “Black Market Website Notification”. Apparently, my email address was found floating around on the black market. When I read “black market”, I slightly freaked out. But what did that really mean? How bad was it really? Now what should I do?
Fortunately, along with my alert came a suggested course of action. Just to be sure, I called LifeLock up on the phone. There was next to no wait and the representative kindly laid it all out for me. He said that it’s quite common for email addresses to be widely available and that it was not a huge threat. Still, I was advised that I change my password to prevent any dangerous attempts to get more of my personal information. Though this ended up being no biggie, I sure am glad LifeLock had my (credit’s) back.

I’ve had LifeLock Ultimate for over two years and it gives me peace of mind when it comes to my information and credit health. Identity theft and fraud are no joke and you don’t want to be caught as the victim. LifeLock reminds us that “credit monitoring is not proactive identity theft protection” and is not enough by itself. So go beyond credit monitoring and get some protection!

It’s great having a company monitoring things like this so you don’t have to! Can I say that I’m surprised though that with all the phishing e-mails and spoofs that LifeLock’s emails tell you to click the button to log-in? Really for a company that’s there to protect your information, they should tell you to go direct to the website and log in there…
I love Lifelock, they make sure you are protected.
I just signed my husband up for Lifelock a few days ago! I need to finish setting up his account now.
Thank you ever so for you personally post.Really looking forward to find out more.
I love all the alerts this really is a great service.
How scary. Stuff like this makes me scared everyday online. So much of our lives is out there in the virtual world nowadays.
I will definitely have to look into getting LifeLock. My niece has had her identity stolen twice. I don’t want to be next.
This looks like a really great service to have. I love all the added features they give you. I’ve heard many good things about this product from many other sources too.
It’s nice to have something that is monitoring your identity. Something is better than nothing.
I’m so grateful for Lifelock. It makes me feel so much more secure.
What a great security to have. They offer some great services.
I had no idea LifeLock offered so many monitoring benefits aside from your basic identity. We are long overdue for peace of mind like this!
I have lifelock. I changed my email address and went in to update Lifelock with the new information and started scrolling through the alerts. Almost all sex offenders moving into my zip code. None of them were reporting my home address, which was good. Then I found an alert from back in May that my email address was found on a black market web site. All it had was the email address and the last 2 characters of a password. I never got a notification (email change was fairly recent, like in the past few weeks).
I know there have been reports of various financial institutions getting broken into and account information being compromised and I change my passwords right away, but no idea where this came from.
I’m just really disturbed I never got the notification that it happened. From May?? It’s now October. I’m glad they monitor for this, but I need to find out why I wasn’t notified, unless I’m supposed to keep checking the web site.
Not sure. I’ve had good success with calling them though – nice and helpful customer service. I’d definitely find out about that – scary!
We would not be without LIFE LOCK! This is a great company that gives us peace of mind!
Nice! I heard they had some issues at one point but I’m glad to hear they have some happy customers too 🙂
