On 8/21, Disneynature: Chimpanzee (Two-Disc Blu-ray/DVD Combo) will be released. The film follows the life of a young chimpanzee, named Oscar, and is narrated by Tim Allen. A turn of events leaves Oscar orphaned and shunned, a death sentence for any other chimp in the wild. Yet, an unlikely friendship gives him another chance at life.
The video quality is amazing with crystal-clear visuals and breath-taking views. I have no idea how they got footage at the angles featured! The pace of the movie may be a bit slow moving for some with the exception of the rival clan’s invasion. Though fairly brief, those scenes may be a bit intense for younger viewers. If you’re interested in the life of chimpanzees in their natural habitat, you’ll enjoy the honest presentation of their bonding needs and survival tricks. Plus, they’re quite silly creatures at times.
Digital and On-Demand viewing is included with the release and the film runs about 78 minutes. The bonus features on the DVD are slim but the Blu-ray version has several, including a ‘making of’ documentary and the “Rise” music video by the McClain Sisters. It comes out next week so don’t forget your mark your calendars to pick up a copy.
