Several years ago, there were a few companies that offered home delivery of groceries. At that time, the whole idea didn’t really take off. It wasn’t a big deal to just pop over to the store to get it yourself and it seemed kind of, well, lazy. I’m so over that now. These days I’m at home almost 24/7 (homeschooling and working) and going out to the grocery store is a huge ordeal! Anything that can help make my load lighter is extremely welcome and Google Shopping Express is my new friend.
Google Shopping Express Home Delivery
With Google Shopping Express, you can order all your needed non-perishable items from your favorite stores, and they will be packed and delivered to your door. Same-day delivery is no extra cost (but you do have to order before a certain time for this).
Having so many retailers to choose from also help you to compare prices and get the best deals. Just put in your loyalty cards and store discounts will be automatically applied to you final order cost (adjustments shown on final receipts). Stores participating so far are:
- Target
- Walgreens
- Costco (membership number required)
- Toys R Us / Babies R Us
- REI
- L’Occitane
- Whole Foods
- Office Depot
- Smart & Final
- American Eagle Outfitters
- Staples
- Palo Alto Sport Shop & Toy World
- Guitar Center
- Nob Hill Foods
- Fry’s Electronics
Each delivery is packed carefully with extra tape, individually sealed baggies, cardboard reinforced bottoms, etc. to avoid any breaks or leaks. If your order consists of items from various stores, it might be broken into several delivery drop-offs.
Cost to Use Google Shopping Express
But, you might wonder, what does a service like this cost? Nothing! For your first six months, delivery is FREE. On top of that, you can even use the iOS or Android app to put in your order on your mobile device so your groceries can be waiting for you when you get home. How sweet is that?!
We’ve been using the service quite a bit. That free shipping/delivery is really a fantastic incentive to order and wait for your groceries to come to you. I only wish fresh and cold items could be delivered too. I still have to go to the store a couple times a week to get fruits, vegetables, milk, orange juice, and things such as that. However, now we don’t have to worry about running out of everything else.
Google Shopping Express currently services San Francisco, the Peninsula, San Jose, Manhattan, and West Los Angeles. New customers usually get $10 off their first order but if you sign up now through my referral link, we can both get $15 off an order. Go put in your first order – I’ll wait…
