Vacation Rentals, Homes / Houses for Rent…
It’s here. I’ve felt it coming on for the past couple of months but now it’s finally here. Wait for it…wait for it…I MUST TRAVEL! My cabin fever has escalated to uncharted highs and I’m about to pop unless I get in a serious vacation soon! I only have one humble traveling dream (well, except for going to Italy) and that is to visit Hawaii. If my family and I could visit each and every island that would be utterly fantastic but I’d be happy with just one, starting with the Big Island.
When I was about 17, I went to Maui with my mom, my sister, and her husband. We were only there short while and most of the time we just went to the beach. I wish I could remember the trip more but it’s just gotten so fuzzy after 24 years. When we look at prices, it seems like the best bet would be look for a house to rent for the duration of our stay instead of paying a per night fee at a schmancy hotel. But how would we find such a place?
A few months ago, I was contacted by a company called Dwellable. They asked if they could link to my review post about Kings Beach in Lake Tahoe. Turns out, this site specializes in vacation rentals from private owners. Yes! Owners list their homes, Dwellable puts you in direct contact with them. Renters can add comments about their experience and they will NOT be deleted even if the comments are less than stellar.
That’s all fine and dandy but what I wanted to tell you about was that they’ve gone mobile! Their new app for iOS (iPhone & iPad) and for Android is beautiful. Just like on the web site, you can search thousands of properties across the country. You can view all listings in an area, choose a specific location on the map, and add filters such as price, number of beds, or if it has a pool or hot tub.
The app is really fast. Really fast! There’s almost no lag time in between searches despite the numerous high quality images that load. Speaking of images, I love the fact that you can easily scroll through the photos of a rental you’re interested. Navigation is very clear as are the important details of price, location, and property specifics. What a great selection of rental houses and new vacation homes are being all the time!
The one thing I really hope they fix soon is the calendar function. In theory, it would be awesome to sort by date and get real-time availability. However, though the options are there to be selected in the app, the feature is defunct. You’re anticipation will build as it says it’s loading the dates only to get the message: “Sadly, we don’t have the exact calendars for any of these rentals.” Boo-hoo. If Dwellable is able to seamlessly integrate this, it would rock my traveling socks off.
Oh, one biggie I forgot to mention – it’s FREE! That’s right all this content is at the tip of your fingers and you have full access to all the features at no cost. So, while I drool over some Hawaiian vacation rentals, where are you hoping to visit soon?
This post is my entry for a chance at winning an iPad Mini. No other compensation is being provided. All opinions are my own and reflect my utter desperation for a Hawaiian getaway.

Hi there! Someone in my Facebook group shared this site with us so I came to
take a look. I’m definitely loving the information.
I’m book-marking and will be tweeting this to my followers!
Excellent blog and brilliant design and style.
I’m impressed, I must say. Rarely do I come across a blog that’s
equally educative and engaging, and without a doubt,
you’ve hit the nail on the head. The problem is something not enough folks are speaking intelligently
about. I’m very happy I stumbled across this in my search
for something concerning this.
We absolutely love your blog and find the majority of your post’s to be just what
I’m looking for. Does one offer guest writers to write content for you?
I wouldn’t mind publishing a post or elaborating on many
of the subjects you write in relation to here.
Again, awesome weblog!
