Everyone is so busy these days, including kids. With school, activities, events, camps, and more, their schedules are jam-packed with little wiggle room. The problem with this lies in how to get them to and from all these appointments without losing your mind. Logistics can get especially pretty sticky too, especially when each child has a separate itinerary or the parents work. Is there any way to get around the craziness? Fortunately, the San Francisco Bay Area has HopSkipDrive to arrange rides for kids.
HopSkipDrive Rides for Kids — Operation & Safety
HopSkipDrive (yes, it’s written as Hop Skip Drive without spaces) is like uber for kids or caregivers on wheels. Instead of having to hire a babysitter or mooch rides from friends and family, you can book rides for the next day (if reserved by 7:00pm the night before), the whole week, or for the entire school year. Families can request private rides or can save money by using the carpooling option. Busy parents can schedule rides for children ages 6 and up either online or through the mobile app. HopSkipDrive operates throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles, and Orange County. Look for the discount code at the end of this post!
Of course, when it comes to anything having to do with children, safety is a huge issue. The three co-founders of HopSkipDrive get this completely as they are moms themselves. The drivers, known as CareDrivers, have to meet several requirements before working. All CareDrivers must:
- Be at least 23 years old.
- Have at least five years of childcare experience and a track record of success in working with kids.
- Pass a highly selective 15-point certification process that includes fingerprinting, extensive background checks, vehicle safety inspections by a licensed mechanic, ongoing DMV checks, reference checks, driver orientation, an in-person meeting, and membership on the TrustLine registry.
HopSkipDrive meets each CareDriver in person during the vetting process. The company does not offer parent-driver interviews but interested parents can join their children on a ride at no charge to check it out. HopSkipDrive enforces other safety measures like sending notifications at pickup and drop off. Parents also choose a personalized code word at pickup so kids get in the right car. The company monitors driver behavior and provides live customer service. If you have any other questions or concerns, refer to this extensive FAQ page to put your worries at ease.
HopSkipDrive Rides for Kids — Multi-Mom & Giveaways
To celebrate all you multitasking parents, HopSkipDrive launched “Multi-Mom.” This fun video touches on something many moms and dads wish for — the ability clone themselves to be in different places at the same time. While it’s not actually possible, at least families can get a laugh and enter to win a sweet prize. You could win one of three different prizes — one month of free HopSkipDrive rides (up to $500 in rides), a One Potato box (3 meals, any size family), or three free house calls from Heal. Go to hopskipdrive.com/multimom to enter and for more details. You can get extra entries by sharing this Multi-Mom video on social media using the hashtag #MultiMom.
But, you know I wouldn’t leave you hanging with just that (even though that’s already a fab prize). The company has also agreed to giveaway a $100 HopSkipDrive gift card to one of my readers. Enter below!
Sometimes we, as parents, have to admit that we can’t do it all. There’s no shame in seeking help and HopSkipDrive exists to make life easier for busy families. If you live in the San Francisco Bay Area (or LA/OC), give HopSkipDrive a try when planning rides for kids. As extra incentive, you can use the code COOKIESANDCLOGS to get your first ride with HopSkipDrive for free (up to $20).
How could HopSkipDrive help out your family?

Yes! Sometimes I’m working & not able to pick up our little one-hubby always has to leave his job when that happens. This would be great for us, they could just drop off our little at hubby’s job.
This would be good for doctors appointment
This would be great for getting my HS freshman nephew to and from his music lessons.
Good for long trips
This would be great for when soccer practice is early and I have a hard time being able to get out of work early.
Would love to give this a try – sometimes with carpooling two kids all over the Bay Area, timing and traffic just don’t work out!
I need this because as an Aunt, I don’t own the proper carseats to tote the kids along.
This would be good for my friend.
