As I have found out in the past three months or so, it is a lot of work raising a dog. That puppy cuteness comes at a price with ‘accidents’ in the house, loss of sleep, and near heart attacks (as they jump on people or run across the street). Still, our little fluffy family member has grown on me and I now consider myself a ‘dog’ person that enjoys all things doggie.
What fun to play with the new Cube Dog iPhone app! ‘All the cute without the poop.’ How’d you like that one? I came up with it myself.
Cube Dog is a free app to download on the iPhone or iPod Touch. I was already hooked after seeing the graphics and initial preview!
You begin by creating your 3D digital pup. Decide on the head shape, eyes, ears, body type, and nose/mouth. You can adjust the color bar on the right to pick any shade you like. Then name him or her and you’re ready to go. There is a tutorial to walk you through the process but it’s pretty standard if you’ve played any other sort of game. After I showed the app to my daughter, she soon disappeared with my phone to customize her own dog.
If you rub their belly they will laugh with a sweet giggle. Tapping on them will cause them to react in one of several manners from batting a ball, defending from ninja stars, or even making a call on their own personal iPhone. Do nothing and they’ll nod off to sleep. I absolutely love these animations. The only downside is that so few are available. If you’d like to unlock more, you need to purchase it in-app and it costs 99¢.
The best feature has to be the ability to use the built-in phone camera. Instead of the standard background, your Cube Dog can be posed in any scene you choose. This has limitless possibilities if you are really creative. You can zoom/resize at will and even change the perspective, making for some crazy pictures. Here are a few my daughter and I staged and shot, though we are still getting used to playing with it:
I think this is a great little app but a little on the light side since the included parts/animations are somewhat slim. Still, at a max of $3.00 you can unlock the other options which is a small price to pay for some fun laughs and warm fuzzies.
While Cube Dog provided me with the app to review, the opinions I’ve expressed here are solely my own and represent my honest viewpoint. Cube Dog, Clever Girls Collective and I promote Blog With Integrity.
