There are millions of book lists out there and it can be tough finding just the right books to foster a love of reading in your child. If your child likes animals, mysteries, humor, and great illustrations they may find one or more of these interesting. Here are a few of my daughter’s favorites throughout the years (short list, sorted by grade level):

Last year it seemed as if she had read every higher-level book with animals and pictures that was ever made. Now that she doesn’t mind reading book without pictures I’m sure she’ll find many new favorites. Here’s what she likes so far:
- Guinea Dog by Jennings, Patrick

I remember those Sandra Boynton books so well. So cute!
So weird that I don’t recognize the other books in the lists. How is that possible?
Well, remember that my daughter is a full decade younger than your kids – so they probably had a different set of books. You do know Green Eggs and Ham though, right?
Oh that’s right. I did see that one on there. Forgot to write it.
Okay, just checking 🙂
Shane {my son} LOVES Bear Snores On- my sister sent it to us as a hand-me-down and he has half of it memorized from asking for it every night!
