This year has been HORRIBLE for my seasonal allergies. Here in the SF Bay Area the weather has been drastically different day to day, changing from sunny and hot to cold and overcast and sometimes adding mist and sprinkles in the mix. Most recently we’ve had crazy winds blowing all that spring pollen around. In addition to my daily regimen of allergy pills and occasional usage of a nasal rinse and spray, I’ve had to break out my secret allergy-fighting friend, Naphcon-A.
Itchy eyes from seasonal allergies is a nightmare. Dryness, burning, itching, watering, and painful all describe the effects of pollen on the eyes. The only problem is that many eye drops, even the ones specifically made for allergy sufferers, burn and many times make it worse. I’ve been known to cry from pain AFTER using other drops. I finally found eye drops that do the job and have been using it for a few years now. There’s a bit of a slight sting when putting in the drop but that quickly subsides as the liquid covers your eye. The relief comes fast, clearing the redness and irritation within minutes. It’s as if my eyes sigh with relief and let out a soft “aaaahhhh…”
1-2 drops of Naphcon-A will get relieve itchy, irritated eyes due to seasonal allergies and it doesn’t burn while working.
If you ever have itchy eyes from allergies, this is the only product I would recommend. Naphcon-A can be bought in any drug store. It is a bit more expensive ($8.99-$12.99 per box with two 5ml bottles) than other brands but it’s worth it. I even told the cashier at Costco about it because this big guy was rubbing his eyes and slightly crying as he was running my items across the scanner. Just be sure to check the expiration date as I seem to have to buy a new box every allergy season.

This is the only thing I’ve found that works! Hopefully it will give you some relief as well.
