While my daughter never fully got into playing the online game, she did enjoy the Poptropica Adventures Nintendo DS game. The quests were fun, the characters were funny, and, in the review, I mentioned how anxious we were for a sequel. Well that sequel is now out in the form of Poptropica Forgotten Islands on Nintendo 3DS. I was sent a digital code to try out the new game and share with our Poptropica Forgotten Islands review.
The plot for Forgotten Islands is as follows:
Climb aboard your almighty blimp and explore the vast uncharted islands of Poptropica. Steer clear of hazards and discover exotic islands beneath the clouds. Take to the islands and embark on quests while discovering the secrets of Poptropica’s past, one artifact at a time. Customize your avatar and travel on foot or by blimp across multiple islands. Collect artifacts and other items and discover the mystery of the Forgotten Islands!
Poptropica Forgotten Islands Review–
After a short jaunt with Poptropica Forgotten Islands, I sat down with Munchkin to see what her thoughts on it were. Compared to first game, the graphics are clearer but the 3D effect is not very apparent. Gameplay and difficulty is about the same but Forgotten Islands is more repetitive and with a less interesting storyline. While Adventures left my daughter wanting more, the sequel had her finished and bored within a matter of minutes.
To be fair, the first game was released two years ago and my daughter is now 13, pushing her even further out of the targeted age demographic. Still, based on the games themselves, I’d highly recommend your child play Poptropica Forgotten Islands – Nintendo 3DS first and then progress to Adventures, not the other way around. Forgotten Islands is enough to familiarize them with the characters but Adventures will fill the need for more diverse islands and mini boss races.

Looks like such a cute game I love the snowman.
It’s kind of a bummer that they didn’t make it as captivating as the first game. I guess the first one is probably the way to go, like you said.
The first one sounds like a great game for my niece! I’ll talk to her mom about it, first. 🙂
I like how there are options now to download games via the Nintendo eShop. Easy to purchase and download and no cartridges to lose – plus there’s that instant gratification of getting a game..right now!
Cute game. I’ll be looking fr a few games for my daughter.
It sounds like a fun game, though the original seems a bit more fun and harder too.
I still don’t know what to get my middle child for Christmas! This sounds like a fun game, and I know it would be a hit. Off to shop, I go!
I’ve been looking for some games to get my daughter this year that are fun, and this one sounds great, but I she’d probably enjoy it.
It has been ages since my son and I’ve played games on the Nintendo DS. This looks like a cute game!
Wow. Looks like a great game my nephew would love. It’s a little too young for my teen.
