#spon: I’m required to disclose a relationship between our site and Sara Lee. This could include the Sara Lee providing us w/content, product, access or other forms of payment.
When I was younger, when my mom and I felt like a treat, we would get Sara Lee Desserts (either the Carrot Cake or the Marble Pound Cake) from the freezer section at the grocery store. Though frozen, the cake would thaw into a moist and fluffy dessert. Just one slice was enough to satisfy our craving for a sweet nibble.
These days, I try not to keep too many indulgent desserts in the house or I will eat them. I don’t have that super fast metabolism so it just makes me chunky. However, frozen desserts are fantastic to have just in case unexpected guests visit. These days, most everything we stock is gluten-free and many aren’t *ahem* accustomed to the unique taste of GF food.
Feeding the Sweet Tooth with Sara Lee Desserts
Oh, wow, we picked a winner! The Lemon Meringue Créme Pie from Sara Lee is delicious. It has just the right amount of tartness and sweetness. Plus, the crust compliments the pie just right. It isn’t at all dry and crumbly as one would expect from a frozen dessert.
My daughter and I (Frans can eat it because of the gluten) preferred eating the pie right out of the freezer. When it thaws, the textures changes too much. The meringue gets foamy, almost marshmallow-like. On the other hand, the lemon part pretty much starts to melt and is just short of being runny. To avoid all this we just take it out of the freezer, slice it, then eat immediately. No waiting for it to thaw? That’s all fine and dandy for us.
There were so many desserts to choose from at the store. From pound cakes to pies to cakes to cheesecakes, Sara Lee products had my mouth watering in the frozen section. I really wanted to try the strawberry cheesecake or Dutch Apple Pie but didn’t want to make my husband feel THAT bad as Munchkin and I savored the gluten-filled dessert.

I’m going to have to go with cheesecake.
Sara Lee’s strawberry cheesecake will always have a special place in my heart. I grew up enjoying it with my grandparents and still remember how delicious it was!
