This past weekend, I made a quick trip New York to attend the Spider-Man Homecoming press junket. With the movie’s release coming up so quickly (July 7, 2017), Sony and Marvel Studios are working overtime to promote the film. One of the ways they do this is by holding press junkets. A press junket (or press conference) is where the media, both traditional and online journalists, are invited to interview the cast in a panel-type discussion. It was my first time attending such an event and I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. So, I thought I share a few behind-the-scenes snapshots and my experience during the junket.
Spider-Man Homecoming Press Junket
The junket was held in the screening room at The Whitby Hotel in New York, NY. As for the interview, I don’t need to comment on that since you can stream the entire thing on the Spider-Man Homecoming Facebook page. (In the video, I am in the second row from the front to the left of the bald guy in a white shirt.) I will tell you, though, that it was hilarious and that they all have a great dynamic going on! You have to see this!
The panel included:
- Tom Holland
- Marisa Tomei
- Zendaya (pronounced Zen-day-a, not Zen-dai-a)
- Laura Harrier
- Jacob Batalon
- Tony Revolori
- Robert Downey Jr.
- Michael Keaton
- Jon Watts
- Kevin Feige
- Amy Pascal
Directors, Producers, Actors — Oh My!
Once the Spider-Man Homecoming press junket started, it went super fast. The moderator started things off with a few questions and then opened it up to the press attendees. People had to raise their hand and wait for a running microphone to be brought to them. With so much of the main talent present, it was tough to evenly divide the attention. The spotlight naturally gravitated to Robert Downey Jr. and he was loving it. He’s such a natural entertainer and so funny!
Between taking photos, recording video clips, tweeting, writing notes, sharing on Instagram stories, and trying to keep up with the conversation, the whole thing was over before I knew it. I couldn’t even process it fast enough to actually formulate and ask a question. If ever get to attend a junket like this again, I hope to take a step back and enjoy the moment a bit more. The conference ended with a group photo of the “mommy bloggers” in attendance. This included our group of #SpideyBloggers as well as some local New York bloggers.
Here are some photos from the event including views of the screening room, signing in, toy swag from Hasbro.
Homecoming press junket and hear from such major stars in Hollywood. I was also able to see an early screening of the film. But, we’re not allowed to share a review of it until Thursday the 29th. So, keep an eye out for that. In the meantime, check out the posts that are already up.

I was invited on an all-expense paid media trip in honor of Spider-Man Homecoming from Marvel and Sony. All opinions are my own.
