Yikes! Can you believe that it’s already April?! Our cabin fever is running high and we are in desperate need of a mini getaway. The toughest part about traveling, though, is just getting ready for the trip itself. Despite my best efforts to follow my handy vacation packing list, I just can’t shake the feeling that I am forgetting something. Well, that’s probably because I often forget to pack medication — whoops!
What to Do When You Forget to Pack Medication — Vacation Packing List Fail
Last year, when I had to go to an event in Los Angeles, I realized that I had forgotten to bring my meds. One medication has such a strong impact on my body that I can’t miss even one day. As I went through my bags that night, I discovered that my pills were not in there! I slightly freaked out and called Frans right away. Sadly, there was really nothing he could do.
Northern California is not that far from Southern California but it still would’ve taken one to two days to receive my medication. If Frans sent it by overnight shipping, I wouldn’t receive it in time. The event itself was only two days so I would probably be home before the medication arrived.
Whew, that was a rough trip. I really had to struggle to keep my mind and emotions together until I got home. The possibility of forgetting my pills again has been a constant worry for me every time I travel. Even if I have it circled in red gazillions of times on my vacation packing list, there’s still the chance that my medicine might still end up sitting on the sofa at home.
What to Do When You Forget to Pack Medication — CVS Pharmacy Mobile Prescription Pickup
Fortunately, that no longer has to be the case. CVS Pharmacy has a very special program that allows you to pick up your medication or that of your family members wherever you might be using only the CVS Pharmacy app. That means, on the past occasion I just told you about, a whole lot of headache could have been avoided.
The new service is called Mobile Prescription Pickup. After you order your medication online and choose the location nearest you, you can go in-store (or through the drive-thru) to pick it up when ready. You’ll get a screen that looks like this and the pharmacist will scan the barcode.
Then sign your name in the app and be on your way with the needed medicine. There’s no need to show ID, say your name, fill out paperwork, or any of that hassle. Just order, scan, sign, and go. Isn’t that convenient?! This video explains the process much clearly.
What to Do When You Forget to Pack Medication — CVS Pharmacy App
Mobile Prescription Pickup has only been integrated into the CVS app for a few months so I have not yet had a chance to try it. However, I’m still pretty excited about the service. We have a week-long trip coming up in May and I can NOT be without my meds that long! As long as your prescription is already in the CVS system, ordering refills is a cinch.
Also useful while away is another new feature in the Pharmacy section of the CVS app called Med Remind (on iOS only right now). You can add prescriptions, vitamins, and over-the-counter medications and set when you want to receive the reminders. When you’re traveling, your daily routine is likely turned upside-down and sometimes that can result in forgetting to take your pills. It can be extra challenging if you need to eat before taking your medication since meal times are usually off-schedule too.
I’m really enjoying the updates to the CVS Pharmacy app. These new Mobile Prescription Pickup and Med Remind services can help put a traveler’s mind at ease. No matter what craziness your trip might present, at least you’ll know that CVS Pharmacy will have your back in case you forget to pack medication. Plus, with thousands of stores nationwide, a convenient location is sure to be nearby.
