With photos going digital, it seems like you can get your prints and photo gifts almost anywhere these days. If you actually compare their products though, you will find that not all digital printing services are created equally. That is why it is so important to do a bit of research before entrusting your precious memories to them.
What impressed me about Winkflash, aside from their prices, were the other items they had to offer. I have been seeing canvas prints floating around but thought I could never afford one. At Winkflash they are all 40% off! I got a 20×24 canvas, gallery wrap. Isn’t it beautiful? The picture (which we took at Filoli) came out so vivid and sharp. It turned out perfect! The canvas does not feel flimsy at all and the wooden frame underneath is solid. The picture did not come with any hanging hardware so I have not had a chance to actually put it on the wall yet.
As I was browsing the “Photo Gifts” I noticed an item that I have not seen offered anywhere else. It was a glass cutting board. I decided to upload a picture of a windmill found at Kinderdijk in the Netherlands which we took a few years ago. It turned out so nice! I bought a small plate holder/easel so that the cutting board can stand upright when not in use. It was hard for me to photograph the cutting board for you due to the textured surface but this item is also made really well. It comes with clear rubber feet so no worries about scratching your counter or your board.
To test the print quality, I also ordered a couple of 5×7 prints. I did not feel the the quality was particularly good on these digital prints. The image toward the outer edges seemed unsharp and the colors were a bit dull. While I think they did a great job on the other items, I would not recommend Winkflash as the top option for your standard prints. But I am very picky in this area. Others whom I showed them to thought the pictures turned out great.
WinkFlash did an excellent job on the canvas and the photo gift. I was very happy with the quality and the diversity of the products they offer. Each item shipped separately and, though the shipping time was quoted at two weeks, I received everything in about one. Plus, they really do have great prices. I use winkflash for printing my student’s work from our Photoshop projects. Inexpensive, and if you turn off their “image enhancement” feature prints look very good with the matte finish.
