Life gets so hectic, sometimes we need an excuse to get together and have fun with our friends. When we received our kit to host a MommyParties and Zhu Zhu Pets Pampered Hamster Party, it was the perfect opportunity to have a few of my daughter’s buddies over.
My daughter helped me put one Zhu Zhu Rockstar in each gift bag then wrote the guests’ names and put on a sticker. Putting together the Zhu Zhu Grooming Salon took me a lot longer than I expected and was definitely a full project in itself. After the other three girls (and one of their brothers) arrived, I made them ignore all the goodies until I was finished – cruel, I know. The wait was worth it because the table looked just perfect to make a picture for the family scrapbook.
The kids were so excited to get their bags. After finding a Zhu Zhu Rockstar inside they ripped open the packaging, literally. Then each girl (one six-year-old and three 9-year-olds) got to choose two outfits for their pet. I thought it was so sweet when one of the children said, “We get to keep these?!” The outfits were each so cute that none of the kids fought over who got what. Each one was able to have a fall/winter outfit and one of the specialty outfits (pajamas, rain gear, western, skiing).
The first thing the kids did was form a circle with their legs and let the Zhu Zhu Pets run wild. They were giggling and laughing as the hamsters turned this way and that. Then they crowded around the Pet Salon when I finally finished. The working hair dryer and light-up mirror were so cute. Each child took turns with the included accessories to brush and curl the extra hair on these pets. The ZhuZhus got the star treatment as they were primped and dressed up. A couple of the girls even got dressed up themselves. But that’s not all . . .
We also had the younger brother (6 years old) of one of the girls with us as well. He enjoyed playing with the motorized hamsters as well and even liked changing their outfits. I told him to let me know when it got too ‘girly’ for him so he later came into the kitchen to cook with me when the girls decided to take a break and sing some Taylor Swift. After some fruit and Rice Krispies Treats, it was back to Zhu Zhu playtime.
Zhu Zhu Pets were the hot item for 2009 but the company has not lost their touch. New accessories, playsets, and hamsters bring new life to the Zhu Zhu line as it continues to fascinate and entertain young ones. I really like that their lines are so diverse so as to appeal to both boys and girls in a wide range of ages. As an adult I have a hard time really understanding why Zhu Zhu Pets are so fun but kids love them and they are fabulous toys in engaging children in fun, imaginative play.
Disclosure: I was provided with the above mentioned products by Zhu Zhu Pets and MomSelect in order to facilitate this review, which contains 100% my honest opinion.

Zhu Zhu pets look like so much fun! I wish my daughter was younger…we would so be playing with those. However, I’m lucky to have friends with small children….guess what they are getting for Christmas…..thanks for the great review.
I bet the party was a smash 🙂
They had so much fun. Glad the review was helpful!
Is it bad that I’m a grown up and I kind of want one?
Haha, that just means you’re young at heart!
My daughter LOVES the Zhu Zhu pets. I got her one for her birthday and a car. Now I need to buy a house and a friend for her pet for Christmas.
This looks like a FUN type of party for little girls….
Keep an eye out because there have been A LOT of great deals on Zhu Zhu Pets recently! All the kids had a blast!

Looks like so much fun and perfect for those little divas 🙂
My 3 yr old nephew loves Zhu Zhu Pets! It’s funny because he is being potty trained & my sister will reward him with a Zhu Zhu Pet for using the bathroom. He’s got a collection now!
How funny – I had never heard of that. Whatever works, I guess 🙂
Hi! I know this is kinda off topic but I was wondering
which blog platform are you using for this site?
I’m getting tired of WordPress because I’ve had problems with hackers and I’m looking at
options for another platform. I would be fantastic if you could point
me in the direction of a good platform.
I am regular reader, how are you everybody? This post posted at this website is
truly good.
